Your home should be as unique as the land it sits on. We design and build custom homes engineered for Wyoming's climate and tailored to the way you want to live.
Building a custom home is one of the biggest investments you'll ever make — and one of the most personal. It should reflect how you live, not how a production builder thinks you should. That's why every home we build starts with listening. We want to understand your daily routines, how you use your space, what matters most to your family, and what drew you to your piece of land in the first place.
From there, we handle everything. As a design-build contractor, we manage the entire process under one roof — from initial concept and floor plan development through engineering, permitting, construction, and final walkthrough. You're not coordinating between an architect, an engineer, and a builder who've never spoken to each other. You're working with one team that's aligned from day one.
We build across Southeast Wyoming and Northern Colorado, and we specialize in homes on rural acreage and larger lots where the setting is part of the story. Whether you're envisioning a western ranch home on the high plains, a modern farmhouse outside Wellington, or a mountain-adjacent build near Livermore, we have the experience and local knowledge to bring it to life — on budget and on schedule.

Classic single-story and split-level designs built for the Wyoming and Colorado landscape. Open floor plans, covered porches, attached garages, and layouts designed for comfortable, functional living on spacious lots.

Clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful design that blends modern living with western character. Metal roofing, board-and-batten siding, timber accents, and open-concept interiors that feel current without being trendy.

Custom residences for elevated and sloped lots in the NoCo foothills and mountain corridors. Engineered for terrain, snow load, and wind exposure with materials and design that embrace the setting.

Advanced insulation systems, high-efficiency HVAC, quality windows, and optional solar-ready infrastructure. Built tight and ventilated right — especially important at Wyoming and Colorado elevations where temperature swings are extreme.
It starts with a conversation. We meet with you to understand your vision, walk your property if you have one, and discuss budget, timeline, and priorities. This is a no-pressure, no-cost meeting — just an honest conversation about what you want to build and what it will realistically take to get there.
We develop your floor plan, select materials, and create a detailed scope of work and budget. As a design-build firm, we coordinate architectural plans, structural engineering, and interior selections in-house so everything is aligned before we break ground. You'll approve final plans and a fixed-price contract before any construction begins.
We handle all permits — building, electrical, plumbing, well, septic — through the appropriate county. We also manage site preparation including grading, utility connections, access roads, and foundation work. If your property is raw land, we coordinate the full development from dirt to foundation-ready.
This is where it all comes together. Our team is on-site managing every phase — framing, roofing, mechanical systems, insulation, exterior finishes, and interior buildout. We provide regular progress updates and are always available to walk the site with you. No phase moves forward until the previous one meets our standards and yours.
Before you get the keys, we do a comprehensive walkthrough together. Every detail is reviewed, every punch list item addressed. We don't consider a project complete until you're completely satisfied. And after move-in, we're still a phone call away if anything comes up.
One team, one contract, one point of contact. Our design-build approach eliminates the finger-pointing and miscommunication that happens when architects, engineers, and builders work in silos. We own the entire process, which means better coordination, fewer surprises, and a smoother experience for you.
We don't build generic homes and hope they hold up. Every home is engineered specifically for the conditions where it's being built — whether that's 70+ mph wind on the Wyoming plains, heavy snow loads in the NoCo foothills, or extreme UV and temperature swings at elevation. Foundation depth, insulation values, HVAC sizing, and material selection are all calibrated to your specific site.
A large percentage of our builds are on rural properties — land that requires well and septic systems, long utility runs, driveway construction, and county permitting in unincorporated areas. This isn't a sideline for us. It's core to what we do, and it means your project won't stall because your builder didn't anticipate what rural construction actually involves.
We don't lowball to win the job and then nickel-and-dime you with change orders. Our estimating process is thorough and transparent. You'll receive a detailed, fixed-price proposal before construction begins, and we communicate proactively if anything changes. Our goal is zero surprises at closing.

We build custom homes across Southeast Wyoming and Northern Colorado, including:
Wyoming: Cheyenne • Laramie • Burns • Pine Bluffs • Carpenter • Hillsdale • Horse Creek • and rural properties throughout Laramie and Albany Counties
Colorado: Wellington • Livermore • Severance • Ault • Berthoud • Windsor • Eaton • Fort Collins area • and acreage properties throughout Larimer and Weld Counties
Whether your lot is in a planned community or on 40 acres of undeveloped ranch land, we've built in both settings and everywhere in between. Not sure if your property is in our service area? Give us a call — if we can get there easily, we'll build there.
Please reach us at chase@browtinebuilders.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Custom home costs in our service area generally range from $200 to $400+ per square foot, not including land. The final number depends on the size of the home, complexity of the design, finish level, and site conditions. A straightforward ranch home on a flat, utility-connected lot will cost significantly less per square foot than a multi-level home on a sloped, off-grid property with a complex foundation. We provide a detailed estimate during our consultation that's specific to your property, your design, and your finish selections — so you're not guessing based on averages.
Most custom homes in our area take 8 to 14 months from breaking ground to move-in, depending on the size, design complexity, and site conditions. The pre-construction phase — design, engineering, permitting — typically adds 2 to 4 months before that. Wyoming and Colorado winters can affect certain phases of construction, particularly foundation work and exterior finishes, and we plan for seasonal conditions from the start. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the build.
Design-build means one company handles both the design and the construction of your home. Instead of hiring an architect separately, then finding a builder to execute their plans — and dealing with miscommunication, budget conflicts, and finger-pointing between the two — you work with a single team from concept to completion. The result is better coordination, more accurate budgeting, faster timelines, and far less stress for you. It's how we approach every custom home project.
Yes — it's one of our specialties. Many of the best building sites in our region are on unimproved land with no existing water, sewer, or power connections. We coordinate the full site development including well drilling and permitting, septic system design and installation, electrical and gas utility runs, driveway construction, and grading. We assess all of this during our initial site visit so you understand the complete scope and cost before committing.
Not at all. Many of our clients come to us with nothing more than a rough idea — maybe a few photos they like, a general sense of size, and a budget range. As a design-build firm, developing your plans is part of what we do. We'll work with you to develop a floor plan, choose materials, and refine the design until it's exactly what you want. If you already have plans from an architect, we're happy to review and build from those as well.
Just reach out. We'll set up a free consultation — either on the phone, at our office, or on your property if you already have a lot. We'll talk through your vision, discuss budget and timeline, and answer any questions you have. There's no obligation and no pressure. If we're a good fit for each other, we'll outline next steps. If not, we'll point you in the right direction.
Whether you're in the early planning stages or ready to break ground, we'd love to hear about your project. Contact us today for a free, no-pressure consultation. We'll discuss your vision, walk through the process, and provide a realistic estimate — no surprises, no gimmicks.
